Massage Therapy
What is Massage Therapy?
Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health.
Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained and improved. Physical dysfunction and pain and the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of Massage Therapy.
Types of Massages
Relaxation Massage:
Alleviates the daily stresses on the body to promote mobility for pain-free function.
Deep Tissue Massage:
Releases chronic muscle tension with the use of deep pressure on muscle tissue and fascia.
Pregnancy Massage:
Relieves pain and discomfort that is associated with pregnancy. It can also help to improve circulation and promote relaxation.
Pre-event Sport Massage:
Stimulates circulation, calms nervous tension, and prepares the athlete for optimal performance while reducing the chances of injury.
